The New Sisterhood are a fictional organization from the Dune universe created by Frank Herbert. They are a mixture of Bene Gesserits and Honored Matres, led by Murbella in Chapterhouse. At first two factions were created within the Bene Gesserit. One faction wanted to merge with Honored Matres to fight the coming Enemy, the other faction believed it to be fundamentally wrong to ally with what they considered their enemy. 150 people escaped Chapterhouse aboard a no-ship that was later named the Ithaca. Similar factions were created within the Honored Matres. One faction did not want anything to do with Chapterhouse and formed the largest rebel group, led by Matre Superior Hellica in the Tleilax system. Another faction agreed with Murbella's visions. A third faction did not like the way Murbella was leading them so they formed a rebel group in the northern region of Chapterhouse. At first the Bene Gesserits and the Honored Matres did not mix well, they always separated themselves, for example whenever Murbella had a speech, the Bene Gesserits would stand at one side of the room, and the Honored Matres stood on the other side of the room. Later, after a bloody brawl between acolytes in the schoolyard which left several dead Bene Gesserit and Honored Matres youngsters due mainly because of the special orange armbands the Honored Matres acolytes wore, Murbella imposed a strict dress code forcing everyone to wear a simple black singlesuit.
