Neuburg an der Donau, literally Neuburg on the Danube river, is a town which is the capital of the Neuburg-Schrobenhausen district in the state of Bavaria in Germany.
Neuburg an der Donau's history dates back to 700 B.C. On June 30, 1972, Neuburg an der Donau became a Grosse Kreisstadt (a kind of independent city in Bavaria).

On entering the old part of the town through a gate in the medieval walls, and passing the castle built by Ottheinrich, the visitor is taken into a fascinating world of Renaissance and Baroque.

Neuburg's rural areas are full of traditions such as the yearly Wedding Festival in Ehekirchen and the pilgrimage to the Kahlhof Chapel.
