Packers Premium - Diggs signs Lions’ offer sheet (598 words)
Linebacker Na’il Diggs has signed an offer sheet with the Detroit Lions, and the Green Bay Packers have a week to decide whether to match it and retain the three-year starter or let him go and receive a fourth-round draft pick as compensation.
Diggs has been the Packers’ starting strong-side linebacker since his rookie year and was their best linebacker last season.
Because coach Mike Sherman offered Diggs the minimum tender of $605,000 for a restricted free agent, the Packers’ compensation if they don’t match is a draft pick in the round in which Diggs was drafted.
