As competitors from outside the UK wanted to compete in the Mr. Universe contest, other countries joined and NABBA International was formed. A number of other countries now have their own NABBA organisations including NABBA Australia, NABBA USA, NABBA Germany, NABBA Italy, NABBA Austria, NABBA Ukraine. The name NABBA refers to the original UK organisation.
NABBA is at a great point with our lower section bands now playing test pieces that would have, and have been, test pieces for the Championship Section in years past.
NABBA XIX in Washington DC two years ago showed us that the benefits of working hard on a concentrated repertoire and then being with many other players from other bands reaped great benefits.
NABBA is a contest, but we are not a band which has weeks of extra rehearsals, and which is constantly moving personnel around to get a band together which has, as its primary goal all season long, to win a contest.
The NABBA men's and women's divisions this year attracted exceptional quality, and the venue was packed to capacity with friends and family, full of appreciation for the "art " of bodybuilding, and of those with the determination and passion to make it onto the stage down under.
Since taking on the NABBA top job in Australia, President Graeme Lancefield has continued to cement his position as a leader committed to lifting the standard and profile of NABBA via ongoing support for all athletes, as well as the dedication and foresight to deliver entertaining and professional competitions.
All Athletes were treated with respect and dignity by host and co-promoter Mark Ryan and his NABBA Queensland team; they were supported from the beginning of their trip with airport pick-up, first class accommodation and an event to be remembered.
