Tournament modifications

There have been rule changes and format changes throughout the tournaments brief history. These include, but are not limited to, The introduction of "non-playing Captain" roles in 2003 (the first Mosconi Cup not played in the UK) however these were removed for the 2004 tournament.


Another change was the re-formatting of the doubles matches to be Scotch doubles in 2004.

The 2006 tournament started with a single Team versus Team match followed by two trebles matches, Europe had a "Non-Playing Captain" in John Ruijsinck. Overall up to 24 matches cab be played, if it ends 12-12 the US team would retain the cup. Europe were leading 12-10 and were one rack away from a 13-10 win but it all went wrong and Europe lost the last two matches; hence, US retaining the cup.


Las Vegas will host the 2007 Mosconi Cup.
