From 1984 to 2004, the club was based in Macon , Georgia and known as the Macon Braves. Due to the condition of the team's stadium, and the failure to reach a deal with the Macon County Council for a new one, the team pursued relocation. Before the start of play in 2004, the team reached a deal to relocate to Pearl, Mississippi, after the season.
