He started his career at FC Balzers, but has really made a name for himself in Italy, being the first Liechtensteiner to play in abroad (apart from in Austria and Switzerland). He has established himself as a key player in the Liechtenstein national football team, however, he fell out with the national coach Ralf Loose at the end of the 2002 World Cup qualification stages, and was left out of the team. After the change in coach, Frick returned to be part of the squad playing in both games against England. After Ternana's relegation from Serie B, Frick moved to A.C. Siena (Serie A) in July 2006.
