Mario Aerts (Herentals, 31 december 1974) is een Belgisch wielrenner.
De in Herentals geboren Aerts werd prof in 1996 bij Vlaanderen 2002, dat hij twee jaar en twee overwinningen (de Grote Prijs Isbergues en het Circuit Franco-Belge) later verruilde voor Lotto.
Aerts bleek een talent dat vooral goed meekon op heuvelachtig terrein en met een tweede plaats in het jongerenklassement van de Ronde van Frankrijk van 1999 leek een grote toekomst voor hem weggelegd.

Belgian Mario Aerts, of Lotto, came second with Giuseppe Guerini of the Telekom team finishing third after a 142km ride between Aime and Cluses at the foot of the French Alps.
Frigo, a former teammate of Italian legend Mario Cipollini when he was at the Saeco team, left the Tour of Italy in disgrace last year after he was found with illegal substances.
Aerts then took over as Guerini tired, however in the final 50 metres Frigo chose his moment to pull out from the back of the Belgian's wheel and pulled up the inside.
