She was dropped from the position after it was alleged she improperly voted in a municipal by-election, she was thus confined to the backbenches. MP Maria Minna cleared by ethics counsellor (1228 words)
Liberal MP Maria Minna did not break election laws when she cast a ballot in a civic byelection, the federal ethics counsellor ruled Friday.
Howard Wilson said that Minna was "entitled and eligible to vote" in the November 2001 election in Toronto.
But the Canadian Alliance demanded Minna be dropped from her cabinet post as international co-operation minister, noting that her campaign manager was working for the same municipal politician Minna voted for.

Minna invited her friend to the house and when she reciprocated it turned out that her home was the local orphanage, run by the famous Dr. Janush Korczak, a medical doctor and author of children's books, who devoted his entire life to "his" children.

Minna had had a choice of joining the army of the prisoners of war and be interned or going along with the fleeing thousands of civilians and she chose the latter.
