Manny "Sharkman" Puig (b. 1954 in Cuba)[1] is an American wildlife educator and entertainer. Early life

Puig was born in Cuba in 1954 however his parents soon moved to Florida, it was here that he truly developed his love for wildlife, spear fishing off the keys in Florida gave Manny inspiration. When Puig was growing up he would go out into the Everglades with nothing but a frying pan and a shotgun, here he would hunt deer and drink from creeks for days. [2] He would later begin to film his exploits, initially focusing on sharks. Wildboyz and Jackass

Manny appeared on the Jackass TV show as well as Jackass Number Two where he is credited a predatory animal expert. One of Manny’s most famous stunts on Jackass appears during the second film, Puig dives with Steve-o around hammerhead and various other very dangerous sharks. Manny states that Steve-o was very lucky not to lose his foot after kicking a shark. Puig is also featured on the MTV show Wildboyz where he again plays the role of predatory expert. Some of Puigs most dangerous and memorable pieces on Wildboyz include having a snapping turtle lock onto his hand, Chris Pontius states on the special features This was the first time I had heard Manny scream. Other memorable Wildboyz features including Puig are when he helped Chris Pontius and Steve-O fish for leopards in Kenya during season 2 and when Manny helped to tag sharks in California (again without the use of any safety gear). Lifestyle

Puig is very interested in a back to basics approach on wildlife, without the use of safety gear such as cages, protective clothing or even diving apparatus[4]. Puig has stated that he has a great respect for the Native Americans because of their interaction with the land and survival skills[5]. He is also interested in history and geography documentaries, Puig says that his hero would be Tarzan and likes to think of himself as a bit like Tarzan[6]. Current projects

After finishing the second Jackass movie and with the final season of Wildboyz Manny has produced his own film, "Ultimate Predator" the film shows Manny’s experience with various species of animals especially sharks. The film includes Johnny Knoxville, Steve-o, Chris Pontius and Jeff Tremaine. Other recent projects include Diary of a Sharkman filmed for the Discovery Channel and Extreme Contact filmed for Animal Planet. Another of Manny’s recent projects has been brought on by his hands on approach to wildlife, Puig has developed his own brand of pole spear and knife for aquatic hunting.
