Maine Public Broadcasting Network on Monday decided it would show an episode of a children's program starring a cartoon rabbit that became the focus of a controversy because it featured a child with lesbian parents.
The network decided to leave individual stations free to decide on the episode's merits and whether it was worthy of broadcast.
"Public comment was overwhelmingly in favor of us showing the episode," said Deborah Johnson, a network spokeswoman, who in a release encouraged parents to make viewing decisions appropriate for their families.
