Magog (Bible) was one of the seven sons of Japheth mentioned in the Book of Genesis. He is often associated with apocalyptic traditions. According to Islamic traditions, Magog and Gog are believed to be two tribes of wild and destructive nature. They are known as Yajooj (Gog) and Majooj (Magog), and are described in the Muslims Holy Book , the Holy Quran ( Chapter "The Cave" ). They are also mentioned in the sayings of the Holy Prophet of Islam, Muhammad,as the sign of the nearness of the Doomsday, and that they will destroy the civilisations.( The Books of Sahih Al Bukhari and Sahih Al Muslim), Chapters of Doomsday. Some Muslim Scholars like Abul kalam Azad, Sayed Moududi and Tibri believe that they were Mongols , who were always raiding and destroying the Persian and Indian civilisations, and finally destroyed the Muslim dynasty of Baghdad and Khwarzam ( central Asia ). King Zul Qarnain ( some historians believe he was Cyrus ), made a strong wall to stop them, near a town beside the Caspian Sea and between mountains near Derbent city.
In Milesian ancestral traditions he was the father of Baath, Jobhath and Fathochta.
The Magog is a fictional race in the television series Andromeda. The Magog eat other sentient species and often their own. They reproduce by infecting hosts with their larva that then mature and hatch, killing the host.

The countries of Jagog and Magog, according to the Arabic geographer (x), are surrounded by Mount Caucasus, which Bochart (y) conjectures has its name from thence; it being in the Semi-Chaldee language, the language of the Colchi and Armenians, ??????, "Gog-hasan", or Gog's fortress.
