MIKE LOVE'S BEACH BOYCOTT (856 words)
The founding singer of the Beach Boys is blowing off the dedication of the first and only monument to his group, apparently because he still harbors bad vibrations toward his former band mates.
Love's animosity toward his former band mates (and relatives, the Wilsons are his first cousins) is made clear by another statement he made to Dolenz on that same show.
Love will always be the voice of the Beach Boys classics "Surfin' U.S.A.," "Fun, Fun, Fun" and "When I Grow Up (to Be a Man)." But he makes more effective use of a microphone by singing, not talking, into it.
EMERSON LAKE & PALMER (ELP) Love Beach reviews and MP3 (6375 words)
"Love Beach" is not such a terrible album as most fans believe, I'm sure Genesis released worst albums in the 80's and 90's but nothing this bad in the 70's, and at least everybody could expect a tragic album without Gabriel and Hackett, but ELP was complete, so there's no excuse.
But seriously, 'Love Beach, for the most part, is an embarrassing collection of songs designed to curry favour with the A&R men of the time, and show that ELP had "commercial/chart Potential".
Love Beach the track has some great snappy drumming from Carl Palmer and a jangly Beatles-style guitar riff, Canario is one of their best classical adaptations and For You is quite atmospheric and affecting in a cheesy, nightclub way.
