Llano County is a county located in the state of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 17,044. Its county seat is Llano6, and the county is named for the Llano River.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,502 km˛ (966 mi˛). 2,421 km˛ (935 mi˛) of it is land and 81 km˛ (31 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 3.25% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 96.27% White, 0.30% Black or African American, 0.42% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 1.77% from other races, and 0.84% from two or more races. 5.13% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 7,879 households out of which 16.90% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.50% are married couples living together, 5.90% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.90% are non-families. 28.30% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.00% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.13 and the average family size is 2.56.
