The names of nations that no longer exist, or are not independent states but nevertheless have official anthems (notably as constitutive parts of (con)federal states, e.g. the Belgian regions), are italicized. Dependent areas are listed only if they have an anthem separate from or in addition to that of their mother country. A national anthem is a generally patriotic musical composition that is evoking and eulogising the history, traditions and struggles of its people, recognised either by a countrys government as the official national song, or by convention through use by the people. ...
