Among one of the conflicts, and indeed, the one conflict that formed the NHL, was one of Edward J. Livingstone, owner of the Blueshirts.
The resulting collective bargaining agreement was initially for six seasons and was to be open to re-negotiation in 1998, however, the CBA was eventually extended to last until September 15, 2004.
