Linda Ann Gray (born September 12, 1940 in Santa Monica, California) is an American actress, best known for her role as Larry Hagman's long-suffering wife, Sue Ellen Ewing on the television soap opera Dallas as a recurring character in the series first season in the spring of 1978, and as a regular cast member from 1978 to 1989. She was also a director of the popular show. She returned to the role in the series finale in 1991 and again in the reunion films "J.R.
