Lawrence County is a county located in the state of Ohio.
In the county, the population is spread out with 24.50% under the age of 18, 8.60% from 18 to 24, 28.00% from 25 to 44, 24.50% from 45 to 64, and 14.40% who are 65 years of age or older.
County coroner: Determines causes of death in certain cases; is the only person with the power to arrest the sheriff.
Lawrence County is named in honor of Captain James Lawrence, the American naval officer whose trips to England in 1811 produced the unsatisfactory answers from the English that led to the War of 1812.
BONO TOWNSHIP is located in the southeastern corner of the county, and is bounded on the north by the East Fork of White River, and on the West by Marion Township, on the east by Washington County and on the south by Orange County.
MARION TOWNSHIP is located on the southern border near the middle of the county, and is bounded on the north by the East Fork of White River, on the east by Bono Township, on the west by Spice Valley Township and on the south by Orange County.
