Lake County is a county located in the state of Minnesota. As of 2000, the population is 11,058. Its county seat is Two Harbors6.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 7,746 km˛ (2,991 mi˛). 5,437 km˛ (2,099 mi˛) of it is land and 2,309 km˛ (892 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 29.81% water.

The racial makeup of the county is 97.99% White, 0.10% Black or African American, 0.70% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.14% from other races, and 0.88% from two or more races. 0.57% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 4,646 households out of which 27.10% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.80% are married couples living together, 6.60% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.40% are non-families. 28.00% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.70% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.32 and the average family size is 2.83.
