History

The company was originally founded by James Fergason in 1970 as ILIXCO, and was the first manufacturer of the twisted nematic LCD. The company was later purchased by General Electric and renamed to Liquid Xtal Displays in 1979. The comapny's name was later shortened to the initials "LXD" and is now owned by the Brenlin Group. James Fergason, born January 12, 1934, holds a series of patents that form the foundation of the multi-billion dollar LCD industry which has been rapidly growing since 1971. ...
