Kristina started in Extreme Championship Wrestling in 1996 as Kimona Wanalaya. She was Raven's valet and would occasionally get into catfights with his opponents' valets. She would often provide semi-sexual entertainment for the fans. Laum performed a striptease at one ECW event in order to appease a rowdy crowd. She also engaged in a (then shocking) lesbian kiss with Beulah McGillicutty, which shocked Tommy Dreamer, Beulah's boyfriend. Laum later left ECW and worked for Jersey All Pro Wrestling for a while as Kimona. She was signed by WCW in 1999, but they didn't know what to do with her for several months. She eventually debuted alongside The Varsity Club (Kevin Sullivan, Mike Rotunda and Rick Steiner) as the cheerleader, Leia Meow. This angle soon ended and she became the manager for the "Jung Dragons" (Jamie-San, Yun Yang and Kaz Hayashi).
