Kenny has his first test at the Kirkiston race track when he was only 18 and, not happy at school, he left as soon as possible and tried to make it as a racing driver.
He beat Acheson to the title at the last event.Acheson graduated to Formula 2 racing in 1981 driving a Docking Spitzley Toleman but at Pau he was involved in a very serious accident with Michele Alboreto and suffered two badly broken legs.
Acheson turned his attention back to Japan, where the local sportscar championship was abandoned for the upcoming GT formula.
