KDUS was originally KUPD "Cupid" in the 1960s with Phoenix veteran Bill Heywood in the morning and a full-service Middle of the road format competing with KOY, which then broadcast at 550. It went to a mainstream Top 40 in the late 60's or early 70's. Around 1971, they added KUPD-FM which remained Top 40 until about 1978 when it went rock. 1060 later went through formats such as Alternative, R&B as KKKQ, and country and then alternative as KUKQ, before flipping to sports talk in 1995.
