Buckland was born in London, England, and lived there until the age of four, when his family moved to Pantymwyn, North Wales. He was encouraged to enter the music scene by his elder brother, who was a big fan of My Bloody Valentine. Buckland started playing the guitar at the age of eleven, after being spurred on by The Stone Roses. Buckland attended Alun School in the Welsh town of Mold; moving on to study astronomy and mathematics at University College London, where he also met his future band mates and formed Coldplay. Jonathan Mark Buckland (born 11 September 1977), known as Jon or Jonny Buckland, is the lead guitarist of the band Coldplay.
Buckland was born in London, England, and lived there until the age of four when his family moved to Mold, North Wales.
Buckland started playing the guitar at the age of eleven after being spurred on by The Stone Roses, and was taught the instrument by a mysterious local music teacher known only as 'Madigan'.

Wearing jeans and a denim jacket, his hair is rather shaggy, his stubble has passed six o'clock shadow and is fast approaching twilight, and it's reasonable to assume that he wasn't at home last night watching TV with a cup of cocoa.
Later Jonny will reveal he's recently been experimenting with a 335 ("It's the loudest guitar I've ever played"), but for now let's return to the band's humble beginnings."It was a Westone," smiles Jonny, "amazingly loud".
