History

Joliet Catholic Academy originally started as De LaSalle Catholic High School, an all male Catholic school in 1920, before being renamed Joliet Catholic High School in 1933. Its sister school was known as St. Francis Academy, an all female Catholic school. After these two schools combined in 1990, Joliet Catholic High School closed the doors on its original location and made its home with St. Francis Academy, where Joliet Catholic Academy stands today.

In 1869, the Joliet Franciscans opened St. Francis Academy to young women in the Joliet area. Nearly 50 years later, DeLaSalle High School for boys was founded by the Christian Brothers. In 1933, the Carmelites assumed leadership of DeLaSalle, changing the name to Joliet Catholic High School. These three schools are the cornerstones for Joliet Catholic Academy, established as such on July 1, 1990. 1869 (MDCCCLXIX) is a common year starting on Friday (link will take you to calendar) of the Gregorian calendar or a common year starting on Sunday of the 12-day-slower Julian calendar. ... is the 182nd day of the year (183rd in leap years) in the Gregorian calendar. ...
