Johnston County is a county located in the state of Oklahoma. As of 2000, the population is 10,513. Its county seat is Tishomingo6.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,705 km˛ (658 mi˛). 1,669 km˛ (644 mi˛) of it is land and 36 km˛ (14 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 2.09% water.

There are 4,782 housing units at an average density of 3/km˛ (7/mi˛). The racial makeup of the county is 76.09% White, 1.66% Black or African American, 15.32% Native American, 0.27% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 1.24% from other races, and 5.38% from two or more races. 2.47% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 4,057 households out of which 31.30% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.60% are married couples living together, 10.70% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.50% are non-families. 25.20% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.20% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.53 and the average family size is 3.02.
In the county, the population is spread out with 25.50% under the age of 18, 9.70% from 18 to 24, 25.00% from 25 to 44, 24.30% from 45 to 64, and 15.40% who are 65 years of age or older.
