Bickerton turned professional in 1991 and his first full season on the European Tour was 1995. His best finish on the European Order of Merit to 2005 inclusive is 20th in 1999. After 287 events and five second place finishes he won on the European Tour for the first time at the Open de Canarias in October 2005.


Bickerton was a member of the Great Britain & Ireland team at the 2000 Seve Trophy.
