Encyclopedia > Jim Fassel

Jim Fassel is the former head coach of the New York Giants of the NFL and currently is the Offensive Coordinator of the Baltimore Ravens. Fassel is known as one of the best offensive minds in football. He has tutored such great quarterbacks as Phil Simms and John Elway. During Fassel's time with the Giants he resurrected the career of quarterback Kerry Collins. Fassel achieved great acclaim for his "playoff guarantee" during the 2000 season in which he led the Giants on an improbable Super Bowl run. Injuries decimated the Giants during the 2003 season and that resulted in the controversial firing of Fassel. Still, he is regarded as one of the most successful coaches in Giants' history and will probably get another head coaching position in the near future.
