Parnevik's place in the pantheon of golf stars stems from both his playing achievements and his unusual taste in fashion.


His on-course trademark is the upturned bill on his baseball cap. This became so much his trademark that when he played on the European Ryder Cup team, he received a customized team cap with the Ryder Cup logo on the bottom of the bill instead of the front, so that it could be seen when he turned up the bill. His flamboyant fashion sense, featuring disco-style purple pants and other golf apparel designed by Johan Lindeberg, has been politely described as "eclectic," and he's been known to change outfits at the halfway stage of a round of tournament golf. Parnevik's third round lead of three strokes evaporated by the 6th hole and he was in a head-to-head match with Justin Leonard for most of the back nine.

Parnevik Takes Early Lead at the Texas Open
[IMG Jesper Parnevik]Jesper Parnevik shot a career-best opening 61 and followed it up with a 5-under 65 on Friday afternoon to take a four stroke lead midway through the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio.
His 14-under 126 total is the lowest 36-hole score on the PGA Tour this year, and amazingly just one stroke off the tour record of 125 held by four players, including Tiger Woods.
