He was drafted in the 1998 NFL Supplemental Draft by the San Diego Chargers out of Oklahoma State University. The Chargers switched to a 3-4 defensive scheme in 2004 and fielded Williams at nose tackle, arguably the most important defensive position in a 3-4. Williams has since become widely recognized as by far one of the best 3-4 nose tackles in the NFL, and following the 2005 season he was named to his first Pro Bowl and was also named an NFL All-Pro. In 2006, Williams was named to his second straight Pro Bowl. In professional American football, the Pro Bowl is the all-star game of the National Football League (NFL). ...


In 2006 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, he accumulated 6 tackles and 1 sack, a notable feat for a 3-4 nose tackle, especially taking into account that he plays an unheralded position that is often devoid of any stats.
