At Michigan he was a four-year letterman. He was also two-time captain, one of only 11 players in Michigan History to be so honored. He appeared in 28 games and made 25 starts at offensive tackle, 14 of which were at right tackle and 11 at left tackle. Miami Dolphins

On April 22, 2008, Long agreed to a five-year, $57.75 million deal with the Miami Dolphins. $30 million is guaranteed and the signing makes him the first overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.[3] This made him, as of that date, the highest paid offensive lineman in the NFL.[4] Long will once again play alongside his college teammate Chad Henne who was also selected by the Dolphins.
