Freddie Joe Brisco most to known as Jack Brisco (born September 21, 1941 in Blackwell, Oklahoma) was a popular and successful professional wrestler during 1970s, and into the 1980s. Brisco attended the University of Oklahoma, where he played football and eventually turned to wrestling. He became NCAA National Amateur Wrestling Champion. His first NWA World Heavyweight Championship reign came when he defeated Harley Race in Houston, Texas on July 20, 1973. Brisco was inducted into the Pro Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2005. During the spring break of 1968, Brisco was in Missouri with Jack, and was asked to substitute for his brother's injured tag team partner despite his lack of professional training.
Brisco would amass a number of singles championships throughout the 1970s, and on June 20, 1981 he defeated Les Thornton for the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship.
Brisco eventually regained the title on June 19 with the aid of Pat Patterson in the midst of a match between Crash and his "cousin", Hardcore Holly.
