Dr. Hone Ropata was a fictional character in the New Zealand TV drama Shortland Street. He was a doctor at the Shortland Street medical centre. Temuera Derek Morrison (born December 26, 1960) is a New Zealand actor. ... Shortland Street is a New Zealand soap opera set in a modern metropolitan Auckland City hospital. ...


He his most well known for having Nurse Carrie Burton telling him "You're not in Guatemala now, Dr Ropata!" when he wanted to perform a risky procedure[1].


He was accused of murdering one of his nephew's (Manny Atutahi) friends in 1994 and was charged with murder. At the trial he was found not guilty.


In 1995, Caitlin Devereux left her husband to be with Dr. Ropata. Hone decided to move back to the East Coast to open a clinic for the local community and Caitlin went with him. Nurse Carmen Roberts also went to help him set up the clinic but then returned to Shortland Street.


Relationships

Dr. Ropata was engaged to Claire in 1992 but she ended up in bed with Dr. Chris Warner. He also dated Dr. Meredith Flemming and Hillary Sturgess. After his murder trial, he started seeing his lawyer, Caitlin, only to find out that she was married. Dr. Chris Warner is a fictional character in the long running New Zealand soap Shortland Street. ...
