The Hollywood Gold Cup is a Grade I Stakes race for thoroughbred horses inaugurated in 1938 at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, California. It was run as a handicap race race until 1997 when it was switched to weight-for-age conditions. In 2005, the Gold Cup returned to the original handicap format. This Hollywood connection served as the origin of the track's name, as the location of the track itself is actually 10 miles outside of Hollywood.
