The Hansaviertel is a quarter in the Mitte borough of Berlin. It was almost completely destroyed during World War II, but it was rebuilt from 1957 to 1961 as a project of international master architects (Alvar Aalto, Egon Eiermann, Walter Gropius, Oscar Niemeyer, etc.) called "Interbau". The whole ensemble is now protected as a historic monument. i used to live around the corner from this area - the 'Hansaviertel' in Berlin-Moabit / Tiergarten - in three different apartments all together.
None of them was located in any of the fancy buildings you see in the pictures of this album.
But I had to come here quite frequently since the U-Bahn Station Hansaplatz is located right in the middle of the Hansaviertel...
