It may also be necessary to note that due to the full name of Halo, "Combat Evolved" having the same letters as "Custom Edition", people often call the original game "Halo PC" instead.

Features

The main feature of the game is the ability to play on user-created maps. The maps that have been created for CE are both numerous and creative, some of which are inspired by the original single player campaign or other games. Examples of these maps include "The Narrows" and "Wartorn Cove" both original maps; and "ColdRush" and "LibraryCE", both CE conversions of campaign levels from the original Halo.

Some are conversions of or inspired by multiplayer and singleplayer maps from Halo 2, such as "Zanzibar", "New Mombasa", and an assortment of upcoming maps such as "Backwoods", "Ivory Tower", and "No Remorse". In addition, there are conversions/mods inspired by some other games currently in production, such as "Zelda Online", Mario, and Metroid. Jump to: navigation, search Halo 2 is the sequel to the blockbuster and critically-acclaimed Halo: Combat Evolved, and features a newly built game engine and the Havok physics engine, new weapons and vehicles, new multiplayer maps, and a storyline that continues the story begun in Halo: Combat Evolved. ...

Others are geared towards particular game modes or pursuits, for example "Odyssey" for king of the hill, "C3LL" for all-out swordfights, "Sniper Training" for players to brush up on their sniping skills, and the "Yoyorast Island" for stunts.

"Area 53", another custom map, takes Halo CE in a different direction. This map allows you to play through a scenario alongside online players, battling deadly AI through a maze of interesting terrain, such as a prison complex, a world of dinosaurs, and a facility filled with alien experiments. With a slew of obstacles in your way, the only option is to work with your teamates so you can escape from "Area 53". Check out Area 52 and Area 54, too.

One other map known as "Jugular", is a fairly large outdoor terrain map, but includes modded vehicles to get around easier.

Their are multiple maps in production like "hypothermia" which is going to be one of the best maps released, made by KiLLa and crew. "Revolution" is another map which is in production by the Byakko Mapping Team (BMT), headed by Mithos Kionisu. It is a small, circular map designed for intense fire fights.

A map similar to the above Halo 2 conversion is Coagulation, a map by H2CMT, with nice accuracy and creativeness implemented into the map. The map took almost forever according to some people(From Nov 20 something to July!!!) *killa pwns j00 all* Coagulation has a close similarity to the Halo 2's original Coagulation like the Master Cheif's armor (sort of) *stop doing that* *you stop* and the warthog's are so nice. The ghost (not "TheGhost")is also similar, the boost is almost because of it's contrail, and the banshee, with an added feature it "pwns". If you have seen how cool Halo 2's Coagulation, well you better feel the same for H2CMT HCE's H2 Coagulation.

However we are undeterrred because the most recent Halo CE Chronicles story "The Gift"" has already been featured on Bungie's (aka Microsoft) home page, now removed from their news archive but available from the Web Archive for December 26 2006.
