The town was formed in 1982 through a merger of the two earlier large villages of Gyoma and Endröd.
The museum house at No. 20 Sugár street preserves memories of the scattered farms in the district and the old village of Endrõd, while the archaeological exhibition at No. 2 F?Road shows finds from the Avar period and the Árpád Age excavat ed in the district.
The atmosphere of the square is determined by the historic "Zopf" style Calvinist church in its centre.
