Guillermo Rigondeaux Ortiz (born September 30, 1980 in La Prueba) is a Cuban boxer, who competed in the bantamweight (54 kg) at the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympics and won gold medals. He is also World Champion from 2001. His rival is Aghasi Mammadov, but Rigondeaux has won all bouts except for the final of the 2003 World Championships. 29/08/2004: Guillermo Rigondeaux handed Cuba their fourth gold medal of the Olympic boxing tournament by easily outpointing Thailand's Worapoj Petchkoom in the bantamweight final.
Rigondeaux's second consecutive Olympic title means Cuba have now matched their tally of four golds from each of the last two Games, a relative disappointment by their own standards.
A gifted southpaw, Rigondeaux jabbed his way to an early lead and kept increasing it with shrewd tactics and great accuracy to win a 22-13 decision.
