The firm's history began with the incorporation of Groeneveld, Van der Pol & Co.'s Elektrotechnische Fabriek N.V. in 1887. Groeneveld installed control and technical equipment for the shipbuilding, utilities and construction industries. From there, over the next century, the company went through a number of transformations and name changes, becoming Geveke Electronics NV in 1985, then Getronics NV in 1988. In 1999, Getronics acquired Wang, and with it an international market. In 2005, Getronics further expanded its capabilities in security and applications with its acquisitions of PinkRoccade and RedSiren.
