Encyclopedia > Genites

In the science fiction TV show Andromeda, the Genites, or "Knights of Genetic Purity", are a terrorist group. Science fiction is a form of speculative fiction principally dealing with the impact of imagined science and technology, or both, upon society and persons as individuals. ... Gene Roddenberry’s Andromeda was a science fiction television series, created by Gene Roddenberry, but produced posthumously. ...

Founded after the fall of the System's Commonwealth, as a splinter group from the Templars, founded by Admiral Constanza Stark, their declared aim is to rid the Univers of genetically engineered beings. Unlike the Templars they do not just target Nietzscheans, but also heavy-gravity worlders like Dylan Hunt, or simple genetic manipulations like Beka Valentine, who has had her reflexes enhanced by her father. Genite technology is very advanced, having inherited Commonwealth technical know-how. They developed reactive armor in early research during the Fall, they have excellent stealth technology as their Seraphim carriers are not detected originally by Andromeda's sensors, and they developed bioweapons against genetically engineered humans. In the television series Andromeda, the Nietzscheans are a race of genetically engineered humans who quite religiously follow the works of Friedrich Nietzsche, Social Darwinism and Dawkinite genetic competitiveness. ... Dylan Hunt is the common name of at least two fictional characters created by television producer Gene Roddenberry. ... Rebecca Beka Valentine is a fictional character in the television series Andromeda, played by Lisa Ryder. ... It has been suggested that Mobius (Andromeda) be merged into this article or section. ... This article or section should include material from Explosive reactive armour Reactive armor or explosive reactive armour (ERA), is a type of armour used primarily on tanks to lessen the damage from explosions caused from missile warheads, exploding shells, grenades, or dropped bombs. ... 六翼天使 Seraphim(六翼天使) is a Taiwanese symphonic metal band similar to Nightwish and Therion. ... Biological warfare, also known as germ warfare, is the use of any organism (bacteria, virus or other disease_causing organism) or toxin found in nature, as a weapon of war. ...

The only ship shown onscreen in the series belonging to the Genites is the Seraphim carrier, which along with usual weapons such as PDLs (Point Defense Lasers) and missiles, have fighter/boarding craft called Seraphim which punch through the hulls of ships. It is not specified if these are manned. As ground tactics, the Genites will assault in groups of two knights, equipped with heavy Gauss guns and reactive armor. They are all but impervious to regular small arms fire, but it seems that a force lance will do more damage, and eventually kill or disable a Genite. A coilgun (also known as Gauss gun, Gauss cannon or Gauss rifle) is a type of cannon that uses a series of electromagnets to accelerate a magnetic shell to very high velocities. ...

The Genites are in hiding during Dylan's first year after his awakening, but are drawn out by the news of the existence of a reincarnation of Drago Museveni: Tamerlane Anasazi, the son of Tyr Anasazi. Their usual tactic is to obliterate small Nietzschean Prides that cannot defend themselves against Genite military might. They seem to be weak in comparison with the larger prides, and they do not interfere in their affairs. Beka Valentine characterized them as "intergalactic bullies". In the television series Andromeda, the Nietzscheans are a race of genetically engineered humans who quite religiously follow the works of Friedrich Nietzsche, Social Darwinism and Dawkinite genetic competitiveness. ... Tyr Anasazi out of Victoria by Barbarossa is a Nietzschean character in the television series Gene Roddenberrys Andromeda, played by actor Keith Hamilton Cobb. ...

Study: Polar Bear Genitals are Shrinking | LiveScience (663 words)
The genitals of polar bears in east Greenland are apparently dwindling in size due to industrial pollutants.
Scientists report this shrinkage could, in the worst case scenario, endanger polar bears there and elsewhere by spoiling their love lives and causing their numbers to peter out.
Sonne and his colleagues looked at formaldehyde-preserved genitals from 55 male and 44 female east Greenland polar bears, collected from 1999 to 2002 by about 30 polar bear subsistence hunters regulated by the Greenland government.
