Location of Forest Lawn in Calgary

The area was first settled in the early 1900s.[1] In 1952, the districts of Hubalta, Albert Park and Forest Lawn were incorporated as the Town of Forset Lawn. In 1961 the town was dissolved and incorporated in the city of Calgary, and now it is a neighborhood in the city's south-east quadrant. In 2006 the neighbourhood had a population of 7,857. The community of Forest Heights, designated as the northern half of Forest Lawn, has an additional 6,211 inhabitants.[4] Residents in this community had a median household income of $40,396 in 2000, and there were 27.5% low income residents living in the neighborhood.[5] As of 2000, 18.6% of the residents were immigrants. A proportion of 29.4% of the buildings were condominiums or apartments, and 57.7% of the housing was used for renting.[6] The median household income is commonly used to provide data about geographic areas and divides households into two equal segments with the first half of households earning less than the median household income and the other half earning more. ...
