The Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) is one of the organizations whose College Football All-America Team is recognized by the NCAA. The organization also selects the Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year, the Bronko Nagurski Trophy winner, the Outland Trophy winner, the Grantland Rice Award winner, a freshman All-America team, and weekly defensive player of the week, as well as developing scholarship programs and surveys for better working conditions. DALLAS (FWAA) – Six semifinalists for the 2003 Eddie Robinson/FWAA Coach of the Year Award were announced on Wednesday by the Football Writers Association of America.
The FWAA has presented a Coach of the Year Award since 1957 and annually selects the winner by a vote of its entire membership.
The FWAA honors an outstanding coach each year in the name of Grambling State University's Eddie Robinson, the winningest Division I head coach in college football history.

The College Football All-America Team is an honor given annually to the best American college football players at their respective positions.
The original usage of the term All-America seems to have been to such a list selected by football pioneer Walter Camp in the 1890s.
Currently the NCAA recognizes the lists of All-Americans selected by the Associated Press, American Football Coaches Association, Football Writers Association of America, The Sporting News, and the Walter Camp Foundation to determine Consensus All-Americans.
