Later, Hyperion would become leader of Weapon X, Another team with similar goals to The Exiles but with a darker and more violent disposition. Hyperion tried to take over several worlds, not wanting to return home. Magik tried to betray the team, telling Hyperion that this particular mission was to kill at least six of the members of the Exiles or Weapon X teams. Hyperion killed her to see if it was true, and the remaining Weapon X members fought with each other leaving only Hyperion and Gambit alive. Blink confronted Hyperion, managing to turn his own powers against him; Gambit then finished him off, exploding both Hyperion and himself. This brought the Exiles to the Marvel Universe once more, where they met their new member was a mutant Atlantean, Namora, the female counterpart to Namor the Sub-Mariner, from another universe. As shown in recent Marvel comics previews, a version of Holocaust (a flaming skeleton-like X-Men villain from marvel's Age of Apocalypse) will join the team, as Beak's replacement. The story arc's exploration of Blink's return to Age of Apocalypse during her absence from the team might imply that this Holocaust is the one introduced in said comics and not an alternate universe variant. Just previous to this mission to the AoA, the now-powerless Sasquatch will be replaced by the AoA Sabretooth who had been left in the David Richards reality. In the Timebreakers story Hyperion returns for revenge and comes with a little surprise. In anger, Holocaust tries to fight Hyperion but fails. Hyperion head butts Holocaust, cracks the dome around his head, and sucks all the energy out of Holocaust. Later, Namora thinks Hyperion killed Morph so she tries to fight him but dies. Later in the Timebreakers story, two Hyperions will be come unhinged from time to replace Namora and Holocaust. One wears green glasses, the other just has red hair. The two Hyperions fight the evil Hyperion and are kicking butt. After a good butt whoopin for Hyperion and the two Hyperions, they are suddenly blinked to the first place the Exiles met, that desert place. Blink then blinks like a ton of sand into the evil Hyperion but Mimic stops them from killing him and sends him to a place Hyperion hates. Exile - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (1582 words)
The use of exile for political purposes can sometimes be useful for the government because it prevents the exilee from organizing in their native land or from becoming a martyr.
Exile represented a severe punishment, particularly for those, like Ovid or Du Fu, exiled to strange or backward regions, cut off from all of the possibilities of life as well as their families and associates.
Exile has been softened, to some extent, in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as exiles have received welcome in other countries and have either created new communities within those countries or, less frequently, returned to their homelands following the demise of the regime that exiled them.
