The Evian Masters is a women's professional golf tournament which is played in France each July. Founded in 1994, it is recognised as a major by the Ladies European Tour. It is not classified as a major by the LPGA Tour, but it has been part of the LPGA Tour's schedule since 2000. It is played the week before the Women's British Open, which is a major on both tours, which makes it convenient for U.S. based players to participate. The 2004 prize fund was $2.5 million, which was the second largest in women's golf after the U.S. Open. The Evian Masters Golf club is the story of a legend which comes alive each morning.
At an altitude of 500 metres, The Evian Masters golf course, one of the first in France, was an immediate success with visitors, who were enchanted by its magnificent views.
