Making of Escape

Enrique Iglesias wrote or co-wrote and co-produced every track on the album A followup to his first English album. Enrique has said that for many of the tracks on the album he started out simply with titles that he later based the songs around. The first song to use this method was "Don't Turn Off The Lights" which was originaly going to be the album title and the first single to be released on. Enrique also claims to have written several songs for this album and picked his what he considered to be the ten best.


Later in the year a special edition of he album was released with two extra songs. "Maybe (Mark Taylor Mix)" and "To Love A Woman" featuring Lionel Ritchie Lionel Brockman Richie, Jr. ...


Chart success

Escape debuted at 2 on the Billboard 200, his highest debut on the chart. As well as the single "Hero" the album topped the UK and Ireland album charts, making Enrique the first latin artist to have a number 1 album on the UK charts aswell as having a number one single and album simulatneously on the charts. The album also performed well throughout the world becoming was triple platinum in the U.S., 4 times platinum in the U.K., 5 times Platinum in Ireland, 6 times Platinum in Canada and 4 times Platinum in Australia, 3 times Platinum in India, 2 times platinum in Germany and Platinum and Gold (or their equivalents) in Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain and more than 10 other countries.
