An anthropomorphic, albino Echidna-the only one known to exist; his fur is entirely white, except for black marks on the chest similar to Knuckles the Echidna's birthmark. Finitevus has dreadlocks like all Echidnas, and on his forehead rests a swirling pattern. His eyes, with black whites and yellow irises, are not in any way unnatural despite their strange appearance. Dr. Finitevus wears a silver belt with a crescent moon symbol on the buckle and a black cape with horizontal white and black stripes on the inside, which is held by a golden clasp inscribed with an identical symbol. In concurrence with being a member of the Legion, Finitevus' forearms and lower legs seem to have been replaced with black mechanical limbs adorned with Power Rings, while his hands and feet appear to either be made of segmented metal or wrapped in bandages like a mummy. Biography

Dark Legion

Nothing is known of Dr. Finitevus' origin or activities before he appeared among the Dark Legionnaires resisting the Dingo/Dr. Robotnik occupation. Finitevus was the chief medical advisor to Lien-Da, and sneers at the people of Echidnaopolis and their belief in the prophecy of the Avatar. Despite being a scientist, he is not afraid to go into battle, having challenged Hunter when he attempted to steal the Master Emerald. However, like Constable Remington, Finitevus was seemingly overpowered and killed by the Overlander's Chaos Spear. In reality, he used Hunter's attack to mask his departure, while other victims of Hunter's attack were sent to the Egg Grape Chamber. Rogue

He later resurfaced, gathering an army of villains, among them the equally diabolical Scourge the Hedgehog. Finitevus appears to have left the Legion to strike out on his own, though the truth of this is unknown. Dr. Finitevus has also targeted Scourge's former partner Rouge the Bat, who he caught sabotaging missiles in his secret base. According to Rouge, he has stolen data from the ancient robot Isaac and rescued the Destructix from the Egg Grape Chamber. The albino also dispatched Scourge and Sleuth Dogg to recover a Warp Ring stolen from him by Rouge. This endeavor led to their kidnapping of Miles "Tails" Prower and Fiona Fox. Finitevus and Dimitri following Locke's departure.
Finitevus and Dimitri following Locke's departure.

Dr. Finitevus later returned to Locke and set the Destructix on a pack of Dingoes who were attempting to kill some Echidnas. He claimed to know the location of the Brotherhood and gave Locke a warp ring so Locke could begin his true search. Locke left the Master Emerald in Dr. Finitevus's keep, unaware of the albino's real plan. Apparently working together with Dimitri, he promised to restore the Grand Master-now reduced to a head in a floating glass orb as a result of Finitevus' own efforts to keep him alive-to his former glory as Enerjak. In addition, his plans for the future included reuniting the civil war torn Dark Legion-forcing him to deal with Flame Legion leader Lien-Da and the Frost Legion Grand Master resembling her late brother Kragok-and crushing the Dingo regime. Since she is partnered with Scourge, Fiona may also be among Finitevus' allies-or assets-having fled the Freedom Fighters through one of his Warp Rings. Dr. Finitevus was also the only renegade villain who was not fooled by a sting operation initiated by Rouge the Bat, which involved her fake claims to having stolen the Emerald. Already in possession in the Emerald, Finitevus would not have believed such a claim even if he heard it, and thus escaped sharing the humiliation of defeated villains Mammoth Mogul, Ixis Naugus, Nack the Weasel, Bark the Polar Bear, and Bean the Dynamite. Possible Future

In the alternate version of Mobius: 25 Years Later, it is revealed that Dimitri came to dislike Finitevus. This was revealed when he expressed shame at having worked with him, an event that was only outclassed by Lien-Da's conspiracy with Mobius' despotic king, Shadow the Hedgehog. Finitevus himself did not appear in the possible future, most likely having been killed at some unknown point between the present and the possible future of the story arc. Shadow the Hedgehog appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog Archie Comics, in which he is one of the inhabitants of Mobius. ...

Dr. Finitevus and Locke holding the Master Emerald with Chaos Control.

Finitevus is among the more audastic villains, having acquired his minions by rescuing them from the antagonism of some of his most dangerous possible opponents, such as Dr. Eggman. Finitevus varies in his involvement, only interfering in the schemes of others if his own are threatened. He also takes Dark Legion contempt of Angel Island Echidnas to the extreme, similar in fashion to the hatred of the Guardian Spectre towards members of the Legion. Despite leaving the Legion, he apparently remains loyal, forgoing any plans he might have concocted himself in favor of supporting Dimitri's attempts to regain power. Powers

Dr. Finitevus is an insane genius of a caliber rivaling that of Dimitri. He has mysterious powers, which may be derived from magic, science, some combination of the two, or possibly an unknown form of Chaos energy. When he appeared in the Emerald Chamber on Angel Island to help Locke, he appeared to use some form of Chaos Control, but the light energy he produced was black rather than green, suggesting a unique form of the power. Finitevus can also be presumed to have enhanced physical abilities due to being a cyborg. In the fictional universe of the Sonic the Hedgehog games, Chaos Control is a power that can be enhanced through use of the mystical Chaos Emeralds. ...

Trivia

  • Dr. Finitevus physically resembles Doctor Zachary, a villain from Sonic the Comic.
  • A number of fans portray Finitevus as being romantically involved with Lien-Da, and some think him to be the father of her son Rutan from Mobius: 25 Years Later. This is possibly evidenced by the white tips of Rutan's dreadlocks, but Lien-Da's partner has never been identified in the possible future.
