In Great Britain, the movie was dubbed by a group called "Bridge" (as "The Pursuit of Garlic ") with the original music but with a script vastly different from the original and often not making too much sense grammatically either. This version also sported some odd name changes, the more obvious ones being Piccolo dubbed to "Big Green" and Kami-sama being referenced as the "Green God". While Kami's name change might be considered somewhat correct, it's far removed from what most fans of the series would consider his correct title and name.

Plot outline

The movie begins with Son Gokū's household being attacked by an unknown group of men. Gokū is out fishing during the attack and after sensing danger, Gokū returns only to find Son Gohan has been kidnapped. The group responsible for the attack are Garlic Jr.'s henchmen, and it is later revealed that they have kidnapped Gohan because of the fourth Dragon Ball that was placed onto his hat. After retrieving the remaining Dragon Balls, Garlic Jr. summons Shenlong and is granted immortality. Gokū appears to take back his son, later followed by Kami who gives a brief history of Garlic Jr.. Gokū procedes to try to find Gohan when he is attacked by the villain's gang. After brief fighting, Kuririn and Piccolo appear, and what with Garlic Jr.'s newfound immortality and a "hulked-up" second form it appears nothing can stand in his way. Eventually Garlic Jr. opens up the portal known as the 'Dead Zone', intending to suck his enemies into the void. Gohan then becomes enraged from his father and friends being put in danger and releases his latent energy, blasting Garlic Jr. into his own vortex to be trapped for an eternity. In the Saiyan Saga, at the start Kuririn, Bulma and Muten Rōshi did not even know Gokū had a son, but in this movie Kuririn already knows about Gohan, but he is one of the ones that was surprised in the second episode of DBZ.
