Murray was born of mixed Scottish and Irish descent.
Dave first got interested in rock music when he was 15.

After 4 long years of toiling in the Claymore Mine, Dave Murray chanced upon a local wizard and alchemist, Steve Harris, and in 1976 they began their epic quest to discover Iron Maiden.
The ensuing court case and BBC documentaries cleared Murray of any involvement and lead to the resignation of many local MPs and eventually the fall of the Welsh oligarchy and the reunification of Wales with the rest of Great Britain.
Murrays life has been immortalised in the Hans Christian Andersen novel Dave And The Adventures In The Wilderness: To Tame A Land which spawned the popular childrens cartoon series The Raccoons, although, for legal reasons, some details had to be changed.
