Dave Chyzowski was the Islanders first round pick, 2nd overall, in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft.
Chyzowski was a raw talent at this stage and due to the reputation he had gained over his shot had developed an oversized ego.
In 1991-92 it seemed as though Dave was turning a corner when during the preseason, due to the absence of star Pat LaFontaine because of a contract squabble, he was placed on the top line with Brent Sutter and Patrick Flatley.
UKRAINIAN PRO HOCKEY UPDATE (05/04/97) (1411 words)
Dave Andreychuk's 500th career National Hockey League goal was scored in the same fashion as many of the 499 that preceded it: on a rebound during a power play.
Dave Chyzowski is the unhappy answer to an NHL draft trivia question.
Now Chyzowski insists the reason he has spent most of the last five years playing minor pro hockey is because he was thrust into the NHL too early.
