Growing up in Denver, Colorado Graham attended Thomas Jefferson High School. Graham won the Randy Brewer award, which was given to the school's most inspirational player. During his time there, he played the positions of tight end, outside linebacker, long snapper, and placekicker. As a senior, he caught 33 passes for 741 yards (22.45 yards per reception) and six touchdowns, and recorded 12 sacks and 29 total tackles in just seven games. Graham dropped out of the race for the Democratic presidential nomination on October 6, 2003 and announced his retirement from the Senate on November 3, 2003.
Graham is the son of Ernest "Cap" Graham, a Florida state senator, mining engineer, and dairy/cattleman, and Hilda Simmons Graham, a schoolteacher.
The Graham dairy in Miami Lakes was redeveloped into a residential and commercial community during the 1970s and 1980s, under the leadership of Bob Graham's brother William.
His play speaks for itself - The Boston Globe (701 words)
Graham is accustomed to being the best tight end on the field, though the traditional measurables -- receptions and receiving yards -- have not always shown as much.
Graham, who credits current UCLA assistant coach Jon Embree with his development as a blocker, is such an accomplished blocker that Patriots tackle Tom Ashworth is envious of his skills.
Graham acknowledges some difficulty catching the ball at times in his career, but takes mild exception to those who allege that he is not capable of being an elite receiving tight end, or that the Patriots do not use him more in the passing game because of his hands.
